CBC Logo Redesign (2024)
In 2024, the Citizens for a Better City (CBC) group hosted a design competition for the citizens of Falls Church, VA, to redesign a new logo for their organization.  The new logo was required to embody the following four objectives that the CBC strives for in its mission statement:
- Promote civic engagement and leadership.
-Reflect (their) dedication to excellence in public education and outstanding city services.
-Emphasize their commitment to environmental preservation and sustainability.
-Highlight their dedication to preserving Falls Church's unique identity and autonomy.
For my logo redesign, I chose to based the central design off of the Tinner Hill Arch which is a landmark exclusive to the city.  By including it in the logo, I believed this would give the logo a more unique identity that would allow it to better represent the city.  For "outstanding city services" and "civic engagement and leadership," I created three abstract characters that would occupy the inside of the arch.  These figures (a blue man, a red woman, and a purple/violet child), were meant to represent the different types of people that the CBC seeks to represent as part of its mission statement (families, potential city leaders, schools, etc.).  For "environmental preservation and sustainability," I created an abstract pattern arch that would go outside the main Tinner Hill Arch structure to convey how the needs of both the city and surrounding environment should go hand in hand with each other for there to be prosperity.
